I approached the project with user empathy at its core. Research, personas, and journey mapping helped shape an experience that taught users through exploration and example, by following and copying experienced traders. I used a card-based interface to simplify data, crafted a visual identity rooted in finance aesthetics, and developed responsive designs for web and mobile.
The final product featured easy-to-understand personal portfolios, detailed yet approachable stock pages, and tools for learning from top investors. Though the company shut down before full-scale launch, the work validated a key design principle: clarity and simplicity lead to user confidence, especially in high-stakes, unfamiliar domains.
Role
Product Design
At Stox, a social online brokerage, I led the product design to create a platform for users new to investing, people who had never traded stocks before. The challenge was to present complex portfolio and market data in a way that felt friendly, educational, and low-risk.
